About TheGolfShock

TheGolfShock shows what a golf trip will really cost before you book it, and helps your group plan it together.

Most golfers budget for green fees and a place to stay. Then the rest shows up: golf bag fees on the plane, a bigger rental car, caddie and cart tips, range balls, the beverage cart, resort fees and lodging taxes. Each calculator starts with a sample trip and the costs golfers most often forget for that destination. Every estimate is checked against published prices, and you can change any number.

Meet Volt

Volt is our mascot: a carry-on with a lightning-bolt handle who has seen every surprise fee there is. On the golf course he wears a visor.

Part of TheTripShock

TheGolfShock is the golf side of TheTripShock, which has cost calculators for more than 100 other trips. Both sites use the same researched prices, checked every month.

How the estimates work

Estimates are typical US prices, last checked in October 2026. Green fees change with the season and time of day, so the course planners adjust for your travel dates. Treat the numbers as a starting point and confirm with the course, hotel or airline. Our How we calculate page explains the method.
